Another battle fought and won!

Extra special thanks to everyone who came out last night to watch Low Man’s Joe take FIRST PLACE at the VH1 Battle of the Bands to benefit the Save the Music Foundation!!!
We competed against seven other great bands, and were honored to take home the title. It was especially great sharing the stage again with our friends Downfall 2012, whom we've performed with many times at Gary's Spot in Tomball. (BTW, best wishes to Gary for a speedy recovery from his motorcycle accident!)
One of the prizes that was awarded at the VH1 battle was 20 hours of studio time, so we are looking forward to getting back in the studio and recording some of our new songs!
Please stay tuned for updates on songs, shows, recordings and blogs from LMJ. You can expect some new shows and material for 2010!
And as always, thanks to our fans…we couldn’t do it without you!!!
That's a wrap!

LMJ has finally finished shooting our debut video for "No Heroes"! The video features live footage shot in Galveston and at our last show at Gary’s Spot in Tomball, as well as a unique story line that features cameo appearances by 104 KRBE’s Zoolander, and our friend Kady Malloy of American Idol fame.
Things we have learned from this video shoot:
1. If you’re shooting in Galveston, bring bug spray.
2. If you ask Zoolander to drive your car, make sure it’s not stick shift.
3. If you need to hire female friends to be in the video dressed as prostitutes, at least give them a day to think about it.
4. Never, NEVER try to shoot a scene in which Kevin and Bret have to look at each other. Just trust me.
Extra special thanks to Sarah Moore for directing and shooting the video! It should be edited and posted within a few weeks – please stay tuned!
Looking to the future!

It was an amazing adventure to play on the House of Blues stage! We we're amped and excited to perform at the HOB! The music hall was packed with people, and we were immediately glad that the contest would be decided by a panel of judges and not ticket sales.
The stage crew was amazing, and incredibly helpful. We were placed last on the bill, and that gave us time to watch the competition. Thunderpants was out of control! Spin Cycle (with WMD Drummer Ash) was VERY solid. Their bassist looks like a Mexican Tasmanian Devil.
Prior to our set, we talked to the lighting technician, Kate, and asked if she could throw in some lighting on our set. She was very eager to do this, and asked why none of the other bands thought to ask for this. We shrugged. Who knows?
When it came time for our set, we walked out to the screaming welcome of our friends and fans. John hit the drums and started pounding out the intro and it was surreal. We rocked out!
After our set, we did not even get a chance to get offstage before the crew ran out to tell us we had won! They asked us to do one more song, and we rocked into Tempation.
We received a tour of the Foundation Room, which is the VIP section of the House of Blues. It is unreal the benefits of membership. We were treated like stars by the entire staff and crew.
All it did was make us hungry for the next level!

Hey friends! The CD release party was awesome, thank you so much to all of you for supporting us.
Now, I have even more news! Low Man's Joe has been selected to compete in a VERY exclusive event hosted by the House of Blues in Houston.
We will be competing against approximetely six other local bands. Ticket sales will determine set placement and a panel of four (music critics, radio personalities and talent scouts) will judge the competition.
This awesome event will be taking place on Thursday, March 26th. We think it will be kicking off at around 8pm... but we will certainly get back to you as we know more.
Pre sale tickets are $5! So get them while they are HOT! The night of the show, tickets price will increase to $10.
This is going to be off the charts.... DO NOT MISS THIS!!!!!
We shall see you there,
Stay cool, and rock on!!!!!!!
CD Release Success!

March 4, 2009
Thanks to everyone who made our CD Release party a success!
First off, Blunt Force did an awesome job getting the crowd pumped up with their very cool rock and roll. The people of Gary's actually decided to show up EARLY for the party, and the place was already filling up by the time BF was half way through their set.
Then we were treated to an impromptu preview of the Lingerie Pole Dancing contest! The crowd stood in awe at some of the tricks those girls could do on that pole. Amazing athleticism, really.
Then Dog Men Poets got rocking and jamming. The crowd loved them, people danced, people drank, good times were had by all.
Then came the ACTUAL pole dancing contest which ruled! Those ladies were beautiful.
Then we hit the stage... and rocked! Bret smashed a guitar to bits. We came back out after the set to play American Girl, and then everyone realized the bar had been CLOSED for fifteen minutes!!!!! OOPS!
Lots of people bought CDs and shirts, and many more decided to join us at Bret's house for an after party.
Which is, in fact the reason why it is Wednesday morning and I am just now blogging this. You see... my fingers only just now started working again. That is how AWESOME the party was. Really.
Dog Men Poets hung out with us all night, they party like men possessed. The house was full of people having a great time.
Look, friends, you KNOW it is a party when you walk onto the back deck and see a person NO ONE KNOWS passed out while STANDING up and leaning over a grill. I can't make this stuff up.
I learned that John knows a really really awesome card trick. I can not begin to convey to you the awesomeness of the card trick, nor the awesomeness of it's delivery. Needless to say it is effective... and entertaining.
Also, John likes making everyone drinks and laughs at them as they get plastered beyond all comprehension. This is his idea of a good time!
Kevin will throw you under the bus and run away laughing maniacally. That's all that I can say about that.
NEVER go into Towsky's room. Just don't do it. I warned you.
I don't think I even saw Bret the entire time... maybe once... I don't remember.
It was great hanging out with our friends. The album has begun selling and we are very happy with the results so far. There are a lot of very cool things in the future... hopefully I will be able to tell everyone about them very soon.
Thank you so much for your support. We are proud that our music connects with you the way it has.

LMJ in Houston Chronicle Handstamp!
-
February 6, 2009
• Low Man's Joe was on my local radar, but the band has only recently jumped to the forefront of HandStamp-ness. A rockin' new disc, Where I Stand, is due Feb. 28. (And FYI -- these guys know how to put together a press kit.)
But first, LMJ shares a bill with Laidlaw and -- RAWK -- L.A. Guns. It's like a mini Rock the Bayou. Without the wind, dust and '80s hair and acid-washed jeans.
Also, happy birthday Meridian Bob!
